1.       Safety/Ed update

a)      Email sent today to people asking for volunteers to assist at rolling sessions. So far we have Marie, Brian, and Alex committed.

b)      Art will send email requesting commitment for Canoe U instructors

c)       Canoe & kayak rolling sessions: Feb. 24 and March 2

d)      Discussion re: showing EJ's and Ken Ford's rolling videos in the classroom prior to entering the pool on Feb. 24, agreed this is a good idea

e)      Action idea: Art will call and inquire on availability of classroom for Feb. 24

 

2.       Canoe U

a)      Instructor's meeting Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Davanni's in Brooklyn Center

b)      Current certified kayak instructors: Alex, Mike M, Chad, David F(?), Sally, Kent, Natalie, Bob W., Mike J (?), Art, Amy

c)       Certified canoe instructors: Dave S, Allan, Charlie, Dennis, Sarah, & Eric

d)      Reserve classroom and pool for initial meeting at Brooklyn Center Pool on Sunday, May 4 from 5-9 p.m. (Art C.)

e)      Mike will provide a copy of his video (I'm Not Scared) to Dave F.

f)       Can we do online registration with online payment? Possibly use PayPal.

 

3.    Marketing:

a)      "Man" a table at the MM Expo (MCA booth?) with flyers and a video playing to promote Canoe U

b)      Need flyers: Alex will print and copy flyers, then bring to us to distribute

c)       Can we get an intro to whitewater kayak/canoe at MM's Expo this year? Art offered to put something together for it (informative, inspiring, including a slideshow of pictures). Art will also contact Jan Fast at MM.

d)      Article in Silent Sports: ask Bob W. to submit article

e)      Ask ACA to publish info in Paddler Magazine and put on their website after they add MN as a searchable state- ha!

 

4.    Website

a)      Needs updating (especially photos)

b)      Need to highlight rolling sessions and Canoe U on front page

c)       Encourage members to put photos in the gallery

 

5.    Racing Update

a)      All but one date (Last Ditch) is set. Jeff will inform Dave of dates to post on website.

 

6.    Treasury Report

a)      We have money

b)      Not yet breaking even on pool sessions this year

 

7.    Next meeting: March 12th @ Davanni's Riverside 7-9
